I wrote this post after a shopping trip for clothes where I realized that I am now a larger size than I used to be,
and I am almost two sizes up. I have finally decided to make an effort to lose weight, but whenever I look in the
mirror, I lose motivation. Based on my diet, I would say that I am unhealthy, but not to the point where it poses a
risk of diabetes or heart conditions. I am not significantly overweight, and I do not want to weigh myself as I can’t
bear to see the number on the scale. However, I would estimate that I have gained a maximum of 2 stone over the span
of a year. I have never been this overweight before, and I have noticed small stretch marks on my arms and hips, as
well as cellulite on my thighs. I used to be obsessed with counting calories and exercising excessively. I have always
had a negative relationship with body fat. At one point, I would only consume 500 calories per day and religiously
engage in two hours of walking and one hour of cycling. However, I then swung to the opposite extreme and cannot
control my eating habits. In terms of goals, I would like to lose around 2-3 stone, but my main focus is on improving
my body image rather than just the number on the scale. I want to have slimmer and more toned legs (they currently
resemble tree trunks), a slimmer waist, and less pudgy hips. However, I am struggling to commit to losing weight
because every time I look in the mirror, I feel terrible about myself and end up binge eating. Does anyone have any
advice?
