It has taken me some time to reach a point where I can enjoy events without being freaked out by a slight increase in my weight afterwards due to water retention. I wanted to share how mentally uplifting this feels.

Over the weekend, my friend and I attended a couple of concerts after being on diets for the past few months. We allowed ourselves to fully enjoy the moments without worrying about the aftermath. I had lost 22lbs in the last 3 months through calorie counting (CICO), but when we returned from the weekend, I had retained 3lbs of water from the carbs and alcohol. And you know what? I didn’t panic because I knew it was temporary. We have a music cruise scheduled for next week, and I anticipate some water retention there too. But I will get back on track afterwards, and everything will be fine. The world won’t collapse just because I took a break from my diet (in fact, it can actually be good for you).

I simply wanted to share my happiness in how far I’ve come with not worrying about these things and to remind you as well that it’s okay to indulge a little. We only have one life, so live a little 🙂
